So sorry. I’ve been remiss in showing pics of the finished project.

This lifeline shot shows the detail a little better, even if it is a little blurry.

And here it is modeled by me, with my son playing the photographer this evening.

Bottom line: I love it.

As of 9:00 tonight, the Citron shawl is done. D-O-N-E. I’ll (hopefully) block it tomorrow, and be able to show it off in the next day or two. Yay!

Decisions, Decisions

I’m very close to finishing my Citron shawl. But now I’m torn about what I should cast on next.

Here are my choices:

1) Knit another Citron. This one for a friend. In black, using a laceweight alpaca/silk blend.

2) Knit Silken Scabbard.

I’ve loved this pattern for awhile. For me. Using Miss Babs’ Yowza—Whatta Skein! Monochrome in Navy.

3) Knit Camden.

This is another pattern I’ve loved for a long time. Also for me. Using Knit Picks’ Andean Treasure in Midnight.

4) Something altogether different that I haven’t even considered yet.

Help me?

Today Is

Mother’s Day. My husband works on Sundays, so we don’t really do much in the way of celebrating. That means today is like any other day: filled with cooking, cleaning, laundry, and taking care of the kids.

What I wish I could be doing today:

Watching TV and knitting.

That’s it. No interruptions. No responsibilities. Just one day with my yarn, needles, and the remote. Alone.

Maybe next year?

With only a few hours left to go, 12 rows and 6480 stitches remain to be knitted.

So my Citron ended up off the needles. And not in the good way, as in d-o-n-e.

About a week and a half ago, I noticed I’d made a mistake. I hadn’t counted between yarn overs correctly. I noticed that things were, well, off. But did I let a little thing like being off keep me from knitting? It wasn’t terribly obvious. So I kept knitting.

But my mistake started haunting me. I asked myself if it was something I could live with.

I kept knitting.

I started to realize I might not be able to live with the mistake. And yet.

I kept knitting.

For a week.

I. Kept. Knitting.

Ugh. I couldn’t take it anymore. I put a lifeline in, took it off the needles, and began to rip.

So now time is definitely working against me, and I only have a few days to finish this baby.

What a waste of a week.

Wish me luck.
